Edge defeats AJ Styles at WrestleMania 38 and gains a new pupil in Damian Priest

AJ Styles’ edge caught mid-air with a spear to claim victory in the WrestleMania 38 Sunday night, thanks to Damien Priest’s timely distraction. Styles seemed to have won the match when he prepared for a massive forearm late in the match, but Priest was temporarily distracted when he showed up ringside. Edge took the win, then saw the pastor fall to his knee in front of him. The two then left the ring together, which seems to confirm recent rumors that Edge will launch a new faction.

The feud between the two former world champions began in late February when Styles answered the open challenge “The Rated-R Superstar” for a WrestleMania match. Edge said he demanded he fight against the “Pitbull” version of Styles, rather than the heel he’s been collaborating with Omos for a while. He instantly transformed the heels by nailing the styles with a low-key stroke and a couple of chair toes.

In the weeks since Edge debuted as a pseudo-supernatural character, claiming to have “absolute power” over the entire wrestling industry. Styles admitted that Edge’s attempt to get into his head worked, but she promised to take out this pitbull at WrestleMania. A WrestleMania match with Edge has been something Styles has been doing publicly since Edge’s return at the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble.

He’s so knowledgeable, he’s a great star. I’d love to get a chance to get in the ring with him. There was a time when I thought there wouldn’t be a chance to wrestle him, and now she’s here. The time is limited in which we can succeed. Whether he or I retire first, who knows, but I want to have that match. I really want to get that match. I think he’s the one most fans will enjoy,” Styles told Ariel Helwani in February.

Since returning from retirement at the Rumble, Edge has made 15 appearances, including winning the 2021 Men’s Royal Championship and the WrestleMania 37 main tournament with Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan.
